What a source review means
RipOffRadar reviewed the published guidance and recorded the service, unit, scope, geography, source link and validity window. This is a source review, not contractor certification or a survey of local transactions. Each displayed range has the scope and dates shown above.
How we decide whether a line is comparable
- Extract the line description, quantity, unit, scope and charge.
- Check that the reference is active and matches those details.
- Withhold the comparison for an excluded or ambiguous context.
- Reconcile the extracted lines against the quoted total before a whole-quote verdict.
The starter references exclude explicit emergency, after-hours, commercial, warranty, membership and service-plan contexts. A part-only or labor-only line cannot use an installed-repair reference. These records cover a single item each, rather than assuming every quantity is one.
What a score and coverage mean
Coverage describes the charged service lines compared against reviewed references. Matched lines can receive a comparison while other lines remain unverified. An overall verdict requires complete comparable evidence and consistent totals. Tax is carried through as quoted and is not independently checked.
Any central value stored with these starter ranges is an arithmetic midpoint, not an observed average. A score is a summary of the comparison rules, not an independent appraisal or a measurement of contractor quality.
How to interpret an amount above a reference
An amount above an upper reference bound is not a guaranteed saving, refund or proof of wrongdoing. Ask about the exact scope and service conditions. Do not automatically add a diagnostic reference to a repair reference when the provider already includes or credits the visit.
What we do not currently verify
- City or ZIP-specific market averages.
- Full HVAC replacement, car repair, roofing, pest control, solar or battery price benchmarks.
- Whether work is technically necessary or a contractor is qualified.
- Tax rates, financing suitability, incentive eligibility or energy-savings projections.
Review and corrections
Expired or unreviewed references are inactive in the checker. These static guide pages must be rebuilt and redeployed after reference changes or expiry. If you find a source mismatch or unclear scope, contact RipOffRadar with the page and the issue. Avoid sending unnecessary personal information.
