A LITTLE CLARITY BEFORE A BIG EXPENSE.

Is my solar quote too high? Compare cash and scope

Start with the cash price and exact equipment. A financed total or projected saving can obscure what the installation itself costs.

Separate equipment from financing

Request the cash installation price alongside the proposed loan, lease or other payment arrangement. Ask which fees arise from financing and which relate to the physical project. Compare like-for-like proposals before drawing a conclusion about the installer’s price.

Match the system

  • Panel brand, model, quantity and total rated DC capacity.
  • Inverter specification and any production or shading assumptions.
  • Battery quantity, model, capacity and backup scope, if included.
  • Electrical work, permits, interconnection and site restoration.
  • Warranty terms, exclusions and ongoing commitments.

Keep projections separate

An energy-production estimate and an electricity-bill projection are not the purchase price. Ask the provider to show the assumptions behind each. Verify any claimed incentive with the administering program; do not assume a percentage applies to your project.

Our coverage

We do not currently publish reviewed solar or battery price benchmarks. The checker cannot establish investment returns, eligibility for an incentive or the technical suitability of a system.
