A LITTLE CLARITY BEFORE A BIG EXPENSE.

How to question a contractor estimate before signing

An unclear estimate deserves clarification. A high amount alone does not establish overcharging or a scam.

Turn the proposal into a clear agreement

Ask what work will be done, what materials are included and what is excluded. Identify quantities and specifications where they affect price. A flat project price can be legitimate; the important point is understanding the included scope and how changes are handled.

Check the total

Keep taxes, deposits, discounts and credits visible. Confirm whether a deposit reduces the balance rather than adding to the project price. Ask about allowances and the authorization needed before extra work begins.

Compare a matching alternative

Use the same work description when requesting another written proposal. Ask providers to explain differences rather than automatically choosing the lowest bid. Verify applicable credentials independently.

Use a neutral question

Could you clarify the quantities, included work and exclusions, and explain how additional work would be priced? I would like a complete written total before I decide.

Know what a checker cannot verify

RipOffRadar does not inspect workmanship, verify credentials or determine whether work is necessary. It compares only lines with suitable reviewed evidence and leaves the rest unverified.
